It’s taken a while for us to get this right, but thanks to your sterling efforts staying in some truly incredible hotels, I think we are there now!
Here are some tips:
– Aim high! It may not sit comfortably if you are more used to travel on a budget but you’ll need to shake that feeling
– Take a look round the site to see what other sorts of hotels are on there. You’ll see what company your hotels will be keeping; they need to be comparable.
– You will need to write a review about these places; is there enough there to write something attention-grabbing and worthwhile? We’ve stayed in a couple of bland hotels and its tough-going writing an interesting and quirky piece on those! Not to mention the photos…
– I’m always dubious about hotels which have predominantly food photos in their gallery. A few is fine, but if they outweigh hotel shots you have to question why….
– City hotels can be hard to find something unique about. Look for the small boutique places, the ones which have something which really set them apart.
– It might help to look at price. If a place seems expensive then that’s where you need to be pitching because those hotels are more likely to represent the quality, value and one-in- a-lifetime aspect we are looking for.
– Contrary to this rule, sometimes you’ll find a boutique gem that isn’t particularly expensive but has a lot to offer. If you think you are likely to find plenty to write about, avoiding all obvious clichés, then you’re on to a winner.
– Send the first few over to us at Hannah@luxuryandboutiquehotels.com so we can let you know if you are on the right track.
– If you have any other tips please send them to the above address so I can add them in.
As much as we may want to, we can’t necessarily expect accommodation for a whole trip to be covered by hotel reviews because a) we won’t get anything secured but also b) sometimes there aren’t suitable ones in the pale we want to go.
It won’t work to pitch and secure stays at less suitable places for the sake of getting a free night because this isn’t good for the site and will undermine the brand. ultimately, it will cost us opportunities in the right sort of hotels. If you can get some nights in a hotel during a trip, great, but some nights you may have to pay for as you normally would, so it’s important to have that expectation.
